Why 100 Mbps means 12.5 MB/s
Internet plans are sold in bits per second, while file sizes and download managers use bytes. A byte has 8 bits, so divide Mbps by 8 to get MB/s.
- 100 Mbps = 12.5 MB/s
- 500 Mbps = 62.5 MB/s
- 1 Gbps = 125 MB/s
Real downloads are usually a little slower because of Wi-Fi conditions, the server and protocol overhead.
